Rich Henderson had tears in his eyes when he dropped off Wilfried with Loretta Dunn at JFK. Soon afterwards, Loretta (Lori) met up with Genevieve Momot and Prince and together they escorted two adorable boys to Paris, to be met by Air France volunteers and return to their homes in Burkina Faso.
5 year old Wilfried had been in the US for a year for surgery on his hands, (his family will be over the moon as now he can throw a ball like a pro!) and 3 year old Prince had been in the U.S. for 6 months and is still in a brace, but can walk again. See below a letter from Geneveive about the trip:
“As a first time Medical Escort, I could not have had a more more special experience. Wilfried and Prince were two of the happiest and strongest little boys I have met. Their cautious faces, when we first met at JFK, quickly turned to smiles that lasted the 16 hours we spent together. The long day consumed at JFK, on the plane, and at CDG flew by with the delightful smiles and giggles the boys generously delivered throughout the day. Wilfried and Prince easily made friends with fellow passengers in the JFK terminal by sharing their crayons and coloring pages, showing off their matching light up sneakers, and running around chasing and tossing the beach balls fellow escort, Loretta Dunn, brought for them. Once on the plane, we ate dinner while unanimously agreeing to watch Finding Dory, before napping a few hours in preparation for their continued travel to Burkina Faso. After our seven hour flight, we were greeted and escorted to a holding room by CDG police to wait for the Air France escort.

I would like to honor a wonderful lady who has been a huge part of my life along with many AAI members throughout the years. Ruth Mejica who along with her family have been running Shepherd of the Hills Children’s home in the Philippines. She has personally made this a great place for the children to grow up, teaching and guiding them into wonderful loving people. Their spiritual guidance is what makes them so precious to us. When we visit we feel the love from all the children that most of us haven’t experienced before. This is a one of a kind place and very dear to my heart. I’m very proud to introduce new AAI members which means more Aunties and Uncles for the children to love. We have all been very blessed to be a part of each others lives.
We found out last year that Ruth was battling cancer and many members of AAI and our Philippine participants volunteered to help. On two occasions we donated money to help with her medical bills and hospital stay. We were trying to take away as much stress as we could and to make Ruth comfortable. Unfortunately Ruth went to be with the Lord on November 25. Her last night was spent with her family and many children all around her, they all just wanted to be near her. I think I can speak for all of us that she is greatly missed and we will never forget our beloved Nanay Ruth. We lost someone very special to us at AAI, I would like to ask that you please continue to pray for the children of SOTH and the Mejica family.
The members of AAI are like a family to me and when I asked for help for Ruth, people didn’t hesitate. I can’t thank everyone enough for all their love, prayers and support. May everyone have a wonderful and Blessed Mother’s Day.
Thank you again,
Cheryl Robinson
Nov. 27, 2016 – Tribute to an Angel – Our deepest tribute to Ruth Mejica, a true Angel among us who passed from this realm on Nov. 25, Thanksgiving Day. Ruth acted as spiritual mother at Shepherd of the Hills Orphanage (SOTH) in Zambales, Philippines and she was revered by the 75+ children that she and her husband Nathan took in with loving hearts and spirits. Her lovely voice could often be heard singing praise to God, joined by voices of the children. AAI has visited this orphanage for over 10 years and her loss leaves an emptiness in the hearts of all who knew her. Her daughter Anne said:
Mom fought the good fight of faith.
Her life will always be an inspiration and testimony of God’s goodness.
She is very peaceful and beautiful. It is her time.
It Is Gods will. We are comforted by God in this time of sorrow.
Her legacy will always be remembered and will continue to inspire us all.
She is now with Our Creator,
Well done Good and faithful servant Ruth Mejica.
And that should be our attitude too – Rejoicing and praising God
Please tell all the AAI family as well.
Mom is very thankful for all of them. She is gone but God has given this family to SOTH.
Uncle and aunties who will always faithfully extend their love to the children.
Thank you AAI family.
Thanks so the effort of AAI member Imani Razat, a New York City based mom, who mobilized her child’s school in doing a drive to raise 1 each!
Great News! Our school Central Park East 2 Elementary School in NYC with the help of our Awesome principle Naomi Smith and Alison & Naomi’s class has successfully raised $357.50 in our $1/per family drive to help the Airline Ambassador’s Haiti Mission. This money was matched 100% by Airline Ambassadors so the kids raised a total of $751.00 to help those in Haiti!Orion Razat (Imani’s son), Anaya Hill and Wren Hansen mobilized their peers at a school assembly.BRAVO!!!Here is the notice Imani but out to the schoolIn the Wake of Hurricane Matthew,Alison & Naomi’s Class is Collecting $1 For HaitiTo assist our friends at Airline Ambassadors International in their emergency efforts to help rebuild Haiti after Hurricane Matthew, we are asking CPE 2 Parents to send $1 for Haiti to school in an envelope marked “Haiti” via the purple folder.Airline Ambassadors International is working with local Haitian organizations and volunteers to bring aid to Haiti. They will be going to the South of Haiti mainly up the mountains of Fonds-des-Negres/Miragoine to bring relief to the inhabitants in that area.
Your generous donation will be used to purchase much needed supplies such as: flashlights (especially solar powered ones), blue roofing tarp, non perishable food, saline water, drinking water, water filters, medicine and construction materials such as hammers, saws, nails, screwdrivers, wood, anything we can use to help these families at least rebuild a place to live.
The people that have been affected mostly need funds that will help them rebuild their 1 room homes, buy seeds, goats, cows and other animals they’ve lost during Mathew.
Dear Imani,
I am so impressed by the work of the kids from Central Park East 2 Elementary School. What an awesome group of children. Please express our heartfelt thank you to the students on our behalf.
Attached please find a picture of some of the children who will be the beneficiaries of their generous donation.
Words can not begin to express our gratitude for the funds which were donated to Our Small Community of Family.
We have no overhead and all our expenses are being taken care of by our own personal funds.

It was sobering to visit the Calais Jungle just before dismantling. Airline Ambassadors (Nancy & Dave Rivard) joined Counter Human Trafficking Compliance Solutions (James Wiley and Seth Cooper) to see where we could help. Concerned for 1000+ unaccompanied minors in the camp of 10,000 refugees, we offered transport for these children to a new and stable home.
Check out this Heart of the Matter short trailer video by Worldwide Documentaries about life in the Calais Jungle before it was dismantled. heartomfilm.org
When we arrived the children had already been moved to containers, in the central portion of the camp in preparation for their movement out officially on Tues. Oct 24, 2016. We had a chance to see “the Jungle”, meet with NGO’s who had been helping for months, see the makeshift churches and school where they had tried to maintain hope for a new life. The refugees, many of them from Syria, Afghanistan and more, gathered here near the “Chunnel” to England in hopes of settling there….but the UK can only take a few. The French government organized resettlement locations throughout the country where refugees would be given a month to apply for asylum in France. The government provided buses to transport thousands. At the last minute they did make a decision to take 200 more children. See this LINK Here are some pictures from our trip:
see below:
Some of the youths slept on the ground outside one of the centres that was being used to register migrants for relocation over the past three days.
“I spent the entire night here,” one young Afghan told the AFP news agency. “I am in the queue for minors to go to England. I have family there.”
French police, meanwhile, say they are still finding migrants in shelters who do not want to leave.
‘End of the camp’ – By Simon Jones, BBC News, Calais
Walking through the Jungle today is a strange experience. Where once thousands of people lived, there are now just police officers and a handful of migrants trying to retrieve their belongings.
Much has been reduced to ashes. The smell of smoke after Wednesday’s fires is intense. This very much feels like the end of the camp.
At the entrance though, things are very different. Crowds gathered, made up of migrants seeking information about what they should do next and associations struggling to provide it. The world’s media watched on.
After a while, the police lost patience and decided they wanted everyone away from the camp. We were all marched down the road, away from the Jungle. More confusion followed.
The authorities, though, will no doubt be happy that in the space of four days, they have largely cleared the camp. Now the bulldozers will spend the next four days razing what’s left to the ground.
Ms Buccio, the prefect of the Pas-de-Calais region, said that those who had slept in the camp overnight had travelled from other parts of France.
She had earlier declared the operation “mission accomplished”.
The 68 children found will be moved to centres elsewhere in France, she continued, but there will be no more buses to take migrants to reception centres.
The camp could not become a magnet for anyone who wants to get a place in the centre, she warned.
She said the site would be completely cleared by Monday.
The UK Home Office said French authorities were responsible for “all children in Calais during the clearance operation – including those being assessed for possible transfer to the UK”.
The United Nations secretary-general, Ban Ki-moon, has called for a “massive response” to help Haiti in the wake of Hurricane Matthew as local aid officials struggled to get food, medicine and water to increasingly desperate communities still isolated almost a week after the blow from the deadly storm.
“Some towns and villages have been almost wiped off the map,” Ban told reporters. “Tensions are already mounting as people await help. A massive response is required. UN teams are working with local officials to assess needs.”
Airline Ambassadors Humanitarian Missions Coordinator, Martine Longchamp, who took responsibility for 17 orphans near Port au Prince, oordinated a humanitarian response team. See below Martine’s report on her mission Oct. 18 – 26 2016.
“Assist the poor & fatherless. Advocate for the rights of the afflicted and those in need. Rescue the poor and needy from the powerful hands of heartless people”(Psalms 82:3-4)
Dear Nancy and AAI,
I just got back from Haiti after spending a week working in the South of Haiti. The situation is crucial and I would venture to say as a catastrophic devastation of the magnitude the earthquake in the Western part of Ayiti in 2010, this time hurricane Mathew unleashed its rage in the Southern part of Haiti. From Miragoane/Fonds des Negres, where we have our land to Jerermie with all the cities in between have been devastated with thousands of homes destroyed, crops lost, people literally dying of hunger because they are in remote places where aid is not reaching them. Hundreds more children are now orphaned. Misery has set in even more and it has left a big hole in my heart. The death toll cannot even be counted accurately as they are still finding dead bodies from the flooding. We all need to cry out to the Divine and most High God for mercy for Haiti.
On October 18, 2016 we led a very small team to Haiti to bring aid and help build a couple of shelter homes in the South of Haiti.
Day 1 Tuesday – We arrived in Haiti and went to orphanage where volunteers, Martee Henri and Yui Young got to spend time with the children at Kominote Ti Fanmi Nou de Diakonos.
Day 2 Wednesday – We prepared kits filled with toilet paper, toothbrush, toothpaste, toiletries, adult and children cold medicine, antibiotics, sanitizer, dry milk, oatmeal, rice, beans, canned tuna, oil and spaghetti. We took the town to purchase needed materials for our trip, and we also went on a little excursion to Petion-Ville where we ate at Muncheez and took a short tour of Port-au-Prince.
Day 3 Thursday – Yui and I traveled to Fonds des Negres while Martee went back to the States. We arrived in Fonds des Negres and were met by Pastor Jean-Claude Laborde. Upon our arrival, we immediately started assessing the conditions of the area and identified one family in our immediate proximity who needed a new home. A family of 4 comprising of an elderly man, his wife and 2 grandchildren. We purchased the materials to include wood, aluminum tins, cement and sand to help them build a new sheltered home.
Day 4 Friday –We got on the road to Cazeau a little village in the mountainside of Arniquet, Port-Salut. As we passed Cavaillon, a small village in Aquin we witnessed homes and businesses destroyed, crops lost due to flooding from torrential rain on Thursday night which made the flooding worse and ravaged the area. We saw a man swim in the filthy water and when he was closer to us he said that he had been trying to get out of the water since 2am his house being way out in the village. See the picture attached separately.
Day 5 Saturday –With the help of Pastor Laborde and his church family, we distributed the kits, along with clothes, shoes and stuffed animals to 20 families in the small village of Cazeau a little village in the mountainside of Arniquet, Port-Salut. We helped remove the water from the church’s sanctuary, and with purchase of the aluminum tins, cement and sand we helped rebuild 1 sheltered home for a family of 4 whose makeshift shack was severely damaged by hurricane Mathew.
Day 6 Sunday – We also donated some of the needed materials to include wood, aluminum tins, cement and sand to help start rebuild the home of a family of 6 comprising of 2 other families whose homes were destroyed during hurricane Mathew.
We will be going back sometime in November to visit the finished properties
I heard from Wayne and Helen this afternoon and they are wanting to donate 4 water filters pictured below to our orphanage. So we will use 2 for the orphanage and bring one to Fonds des Negres and the other one to one of the families in Cazeau. We are so humbled by this generous donation.First let me express my gratitude to each of you for volunteering your time and resources to help out the people in Ayiti.
SACRAMENTO, Calif. The chief executive of an internet site authorities contend is a hub for the illegal sex trade has been transferred from Texas to a California jail where’s he’s being held without bail, CBS Dallas-Forth Worth reports.
Backpage.com CEO Carl Ferrer appeared before a Houston judge Friday morning, and he didn’t fight extradition to California.
Ferrer was booked into the Sacramento County jail late Friday night on felony charges that include pimping a minor.
The 55-year-old Ferrer was arrested Thursday after arriving in Houston on an overseas flight. The Dallas headquarters for Backpage was raided by authorities in conjunction with his arrest.
Authorities allege that adult and child sex-trafficking victims were forced into prostitution through escort ads posted on the site.
His attorney did not return a call for comment Saturday but previously said Herrer will fight the “trumped up” charges.
