Martine Longchamp, American Eagle flight attendant has actively supported our Children’s Medical Escort program, but she is also committed to helping the orphan and homeless crisis in Haiti.  She is founder of Diakonos International which helped create a Family Home called “KOMINOTE TI FANMI NOU de DIAKONOS” (meaning “Our small Community of Family”).  The home provides a safe family haven for orphans, abandoned and abused children where they can play, learn, grow and develop into healthy, happy, educated and productive young adults who will become the next generation of Haitian citizens.  Located in a rural town of Port-au-Prince called Carrefour, it is home to well over 20 children.  Martine led two rewarding missions to support the orphanage this summer.  A team in July provided art supplies so the kids could be part of ART DAY celebration -check out video  HERE, and returned in September to provide backpacks and school supplies so the children had what they needed before the school year.

“The experience was wonderful.  I really enjoyed seeing the children and spending time with them.  Learning the culture of Haiti and how we can better help the children”  Sheree Kirsh, mission volunteer

Define who you are and you will find your purpose. Find your purpose and it will cause you to set your goals. Your goals will set you up with an appointment with destiny which in turn will open the doors of opportunity. Walking through these doors will lead you to your destiny and to the fulfillment of your purpose. Once your purpose is fulfilled it will ultimately bring you before your maker for accountability.” (Martine Longchamp)

There are 1500 schools in El Salvador without electricity and 20 without water.  Airline Ambassadors is pleased to partner with Gente Ayudando Gente to provide wells and solar panels to schools and rural families providing clean water and electricity which will change lives.  In Sept a small AAI team participated at the dedication of a new well and solar panel system providing power and water to San Antonio School near the city of La Libertad and visited rural communities benefiting from electricity.  Gente Ayudando Gente also provides medical services for women and those suffering from cancer.  Generous Deanna Frieze of Sunny Days Retail, provided a micro loan to provide wigs for women in chemo-therapy.  The team explored volcanoes and beaches and laid plans for on going support of these important initiatives.

A dedication of the well.

Sept 3-6 an AAI research team visited projects of Mayan Families for ongoing support  We met with about 20 “ancianos” women who have lost their husbands – Mayan Families feeds and provides medical care for these wonderful women.  We toured their vocational training carpentry workshop and learned about the projects of water filtration, Onil Stoves, day-care, sponsorships, and micro-loans…..quite impressive.  The following day we took the glorious ride across Lake Atitlan to visit the village of Chukmuk and our sponsored school there.  We gave out anti-parasitic medicine and weighed and measured the kids. (who have received nutrition from our Feed My Starving Children shipments)  We then visited two other compounds with very poor families sponsored by Mayan Families, delivering gifts, diapers, food and eggs and a soccer ball and uniforms to this area…..many had the Onil Stove and water filtration systems.  Deanna sponsored a family, where the little girl was going to have to stop school due to no $.  Her mother had died, and the day we arrived, the grandmother, and two children had shared a half an avocado for lunch “You will never go hungry again”, Deanna announced.  she said and urged the kids to study hard….for the chance at a future.  Deanna also found  product to sell in her shops in the U.S. – Sunny Days Retail……and we discussed micro loans to support Mayan Families women. The following day we delivered a DVD player to a little boy homebound boy in the village of San Antonio .The young women working  with Mayan Families, Sarah Shapliegh, Amy and Victora were very knowledgeable, compassionate and capable.  We look forward to a Christmas celebration in this unbelievable location.

I had the pleasure of escorting 20 Chinese orphans to the US for a six week home stay program from Beijing on July 9, 2013 and returning with them on August 18, 2013. I flew round trip with the children on Delta Airlines, and I am proud to say Delta Airlines helped me in many ways make this a successful trip.  We arranged a pizza party for them when we arrived in Detroit, and again a little party for them to say goodbye before they went back to Beijing. I had a lot of help from fellow fight attendants including Vicki (Who escorted the children to and from Kansas City). Traci, Ann and Julie (who helped organize the parties with the food and fun in Detroit). Also all the in-flight Delta people who helped with this was just amazing !!!!! Special thank you to everyone who helped !!!

A recent report shows that all U.S. states now criminalize human trafficking. When Reuters reported on this issue, AAI’s poster can clearly be seen in the background. We are very proud to be a part of this momentous occasion.
