Our Paris medical escorts are the most complicated we have, as often the kids are usually traveling through Paris from Africa.
Those that volunteer for these trips are so special. Retired AA volunteers Ina Melen and Joanne Striker traveled together to escort three children to and from Paris. They escorted little Aicha (pictured to left) to Paris (on her way home to Burkina Faso) after being fitted with a prosthetic leg. She was born deaf, but a delight on the entire trip.
After a quick rest, Ina and Joanne were ready to go again, escorting two boys to the United States for donated Health care. The younger one, named Prince, was only 8 months old and he was going to Columbus, Ohio for treatment on his legs. The other boy, Willfried was only 2 1/2 and is now in Philadelphia at the Shriner Hospital being treated on his arm and hand.
Thank you to Miles for Kids in Need for providing the miles for the kids and the wonderful crews on American Airlines. By the end of the trip everyone felt like little Prince…..ready for a good NAP!
